Mary's father, a passionate amateur painter.

PERSONAL DETAILS

Mary Grooteman (1960) born in Wervershoof (N-H) the Netherlands. Lives and works in Amsterdam since 1998. July 2003 daughter Stella is born.
Mary focusses on painting of the human figure, she paints from observation as well as from photographs. The majority of her oeuvre is from portrait commissions from that achieve a high degree of craftsmanship, just like her free work. In her work frivolity, humor and drama play an important role.

EDUCATION

Wackers Academy, Amsterdam, 1988- 1993.

COMMISSIONS

Mary does portraits on commission, both children and adults. At the moment booked until June 2011.

1994, assistent painter to Rob Scholte at the project ‘Après nous le déluge’ , in the replica of the Royal Palace “Huis ten Bosch”, Holland Village, Nagasaki, Japan.
